Luciana Lara is a director, choreographer, dancer, researcher, dramaturgist, and teacher. Founder of the Anti Status Quo Dance Company (1988), she directs the group alongside Marconi Valadares.
Holds a Master's degree in Arts from the University of Brasília (UnB), studied at the Laban Centre (London/UK) with a CAPES scholarship, and was a resident choreographer at the American Dance Festival (USA) with a USIS scholarship. Graduated in Performing Arts from the Dulcina de Moraes Faculty of Arts.
Her research investigates dramaturgy in dance, the body-city relationship, body-image relationship, and the spectator's experience. Her work is recognized for its investigative nature, for expanding the concept of dance and choreography, and for its interdisciplinary dialogue, especially with the visual arts. She develops critical dramaturgies in diverse formats, such as choreographic installations, site-specific works, urban interventions, performances, videos, hybrid and contextual works.

Since 2003, the Corpo-Cidade research project has showcased its work in Brazil and abroad, participating in festivals such as Panorama, MITsp, Cena Contemporânea, the SESC Dance Biennial, as well as international events in Spain, Serbia, Mexico, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, and Bolivia.
